How To

How to make wood joints

This tutorial will help you join two pieces of wooden together. We will use the pocket hole joint, which is drilling holes in the wood to join them. If your wood has a straight grain, smooth surface, you can use this method. Dowel joinery might be a better option if your wood is not straight or flat. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. To start, measure and mark where you want to put the pocket hole joint. Then drill 3/4 inch deep holes into the ends of each piece of wood using a jig saw or handheld drilling machine.
  2. Sand Smooth. Sanding the wood's edges will help ensure that the joint won't split later.
  3. Glue the two sides of the wood together. Apply glue to both sides of the wood. Allow it to sit for approximately 5 minutes before you clamp the pieces together.
  4. Fix the Pieces together. After the glue has dried completely, you can clamp the pieces together until they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. Trimming the joinery after glue has completely dried.

To be able to turn the pieces inside-out, leave enough room between them.
